Bloom Where You Are Planted
Slave Mentality
“Yes, each of you should remain as you were when God called you. Are you a slave? Do not let that worry you –but if you get a chance to be free, take it. And remember, if you were a slave when the Lord called you, you are now free in the Lord. And if you were free when the Lord called you, you are now a slave of Christ. God paid a high price for you, so do not be enslaved by the world. Each of you dear brothers and sisters, should remain as you were when God first called you.” (1 Corinthians 7:20-24)
Discouraged
Today you may be negative and discouraged because you do not like where you are. You are always fighting against something. You are praying and you feel as though your prayers are not being answered. But God is more interested in changing you than He is in changing your circumstances.
Being sour because things are not going the way you want, will keep you where you are. If you would like to see change and would like for God to open new doors, the key is to bloom right where you are. I understand that is easier said than done, but you can do it. They are two steps to start the process.
Seed Sower
First, you need to sow a seed for God. Put a smile on your face. Be good to people even if they are not good to you. When you decide to bloom where you are planted, you are sowing a seed for God to do something new.
Psalm 37:23 says, “The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord.” That means if we are in faith, we are where we are supposed to be. I am sure you are saying to yourself, “I’m not in a good place.”
It may be difficult, but God will not allow a change to come into your life unless He has a divine purpose for it. Nothing happens to you it happens for you. If you keep the right attitude, God will always use it for your good.
Seeking Happiness
Next, you cannot fight your way to happiness. You are trying to find happiness in material things. You are always looking at others and you wish that you could do some of the same things. But do not get discouraged! This place is where God has you and He wants you to be happy amid all that you are going through.
Know that God has you where you are for a reason. Although it is hard to do, be thankful, show gratitude and smile. You must surrender. Move out of your own way, be obedient and trust the process.
Choosing to Be Happy
Learn to be a rose among thorns. You do not have to allow a bad environment or negative nellies to affect your happiness. Do not focus on the weeds. In other words, try to fix everything in your life including people. You have a few friends that you would like to do the right things but will not. YOU CANNOT CHANGE PEOPLE, only God can do that!
Personally, I have learned a long time ago, everyone does not want to be happy. Some people bathe in negativity. They like the attention that the drama brings. That is their choice. I am a blooming flower that chooses to have a good attitude. I am smiling and I am happy despite my circumstances.
You should be too. Choose to be positive and have a good attitude! You choose to bloom! Smile and be happy despite your circumstances. “For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.”
The Challenge
This sunken place is not your destiny. You were made for more. God has incredible things planned for your future, but you must do your part. Bloom where you are planted. “What does that mean”, you asked?
It means that you need to develop your gifts and talents. Whatever you are doing currently, do your best. Improve your skills, by reading books and taking classes. If you have not already, get your college degree if you choose.
This Too Shall Pass
But don’t you dare just sit back and allow those negative thoughts to keep you down. There will be better days. This too shall pass!
Your destiny in life is to prosper. It is to make a difference in this world. Take a stand and say to yourself, “I will not settle where I am. I was made for more.” You have seeds of greatness on the inside. You are a child of the Most High God!
It is time to rise and be the best you can be in the midst of your circumstances. God will take you where you are supposed to go. There is a time for everything. DO IT FREELY!
