Behind the Mask
Book Release
After the release of my book, the joy that I felt was indescribable. I worked diligently each day because I knew that there were people that needed to read my book. I must be brutally honest about the fact that I thought I would have gotten more support from some people that I held near and dear to me. Then I realize that some people are very skeptical about what they read, so maybe they decided that Depression wasn’t something that they even wanted to think about. Well let me say this! There are so many people around us everyday that is suffering in silence with Depression. You may not be depressed, but someone that you know and love could be depressed or on the verge of committing suicide and you might be their saving grace.
The Shift
Yes, my book is my personal story of how I suffered in silence. It’s the shift from suffering alone, removing the mask, letting it all out and you should too. Some days, I still battle Depression, but I don’t want anyone feeling sorry for me. Instead, I want you to know that I am finally free of the burden of trying to mask the pain. And, I understand that God has specific people that he wants to speak to through my book and that might not be you. But, that’s okay. There are brief moments, when the struggle is real. We can still encourage and inspire one another.
So, maybe Depression isn’t your struggle. Perhaps your struggle is an abusive relationship, sexual molestation or some other traumatic experience that you need to be set free from. The time has come for you to remove your mask. You are not alone! Use that pain from the past to catapult you into the purpose for which you were created. You are God’s masterpiece, fearfully and wonderfully made. Together, let’s step out from behind the scenes and press on, so that we can be a blessing to someone else.
Take a deep breath in, and then exhale.
Mask off. Let’s go!
